Age of Steam Festival - August 2008

 

Carnforth Station presents a month long calendar of activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the end of steam on British Railways that will include various talks and special exhibitions.  Click here to download the latest (22 July 08) Visitor Centre Events Poster in Adobe pdf format.

 

Special Exhibitions & Layouts:

 

A ”History of the Steam Age” exhibition will be on display throughout August.

 

“The Age of Steam” room will display an enlarged collection of fascinating memorabilia

 

Museum of Transport - Monday 4 - Saturday 9 August & Monday 25 - Friday 29 August

Furness & Midland Hall

The award winning “Museum of Transport” model layout will be on display operating from 10am daily.

FREE ADMISSION - Donations in support of Carnforth Station Trust.

Steam Bus Tour - Saturday 30 August

Departs Carnforth Station from 10.30am - every 20 minutes thereafter

This unique bus will be on the main station car park and will offer visitors a steaming good local tour!  

Fare: £2.50

 

Age of Steam Raffle

Prizes include: Cab Ride in a Pendolino with Virgin Trains; First Class Return Ticket with Virgin Trains; £100 cash; Tickets for a Kingfisher Railtour and many other smaller prizes to be won.  Buy your ticket from the Visitor Centre Gift Shop - £1 each. The Visitor Centre: 7.30pm

The festival will be opened by George Hinchcliffe (ex-Steamtown).  The “High Society” Jazz Band will be performing on Platform 1 from 12 noon.
